USD #225 Board of Education Meeting
March 2, 2020, 7:00 P.M.
Call to order: T.J. Milford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:58 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Jamie Boese led in prayer.
Members present: Fred Boyd, Ed Rarden, Kimberly Copenhaver, Cathy Heinz, Tom Huelskamp, Jamie Boese, and TJ Milford were present. Others present were Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Corri McDowell, Principal, and Erica Rarden, Board Clerk.
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Charlie Littlewood, David Adams, Sue Givens, Debbie Wise, Cord Moss, Kim McLachlan, Emily Dizmang, and Oscar Teran
Approve Consent Agenda: Boyd moved, seconded by Copenhaver to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carried 7-0.
RUS Grant: Boyd moved, seconded by Copenhaver to approve the Letter of Support for the RUS grant for the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant application. The school district is committing $1,552.10, which equals 15% of the grant budget. Motion carried 7-0.
Executive Session
Copenhaver moved, seconded by Rarden to go into executive session for 10 minutes, board only, to discuss personnel matters of non-elected personnel exception under KOMA. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 7-0. 7:03 p.m.
Heinz moved, seconded by Copenhaver to go into executive session for 5 minutes, board only. Motion carried 7-0. 7:03 p.m.
Copenhaver moved, seconded by Huelskamp to go into executive session for 45 minutes, with Sue Givens – KASB. Motion carried 7-0. 7:20 p.m.
Heinz moved, seconded by Huelskamp to go into executive session for 30 minutes, with Sue Givens – KASB. Motion carried 7-0. 8:06 p.m.
Sue Givens exited executive session at 8:14 p.m.
Recess 8:30 p.m. – 8:40 p.m.
Heinz moved, seconded by Copenhaver to go into executive session for 30 minutes, board only. Motion carried 7-0. 8:40 p.m.
Heinz moved, seconded by Copenhaver to go into executive session for 30 minutes, board only. Motion carried 7-0. 9:10 p.m.
Heinz moved, seconded by Copenhaver to go into executive session for 20 minutes, board only. Motion carried 7-0. 9:42 p.m.
Discussion
April Board Meeting: The April Board of Education meeting date will be changed from Monday, April 13, 2020 to Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
Adjournment: A motion was made by Huelskamp, seconded by Copenhaver to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 7-0. Time: 10:05 p.m.
