School at Home

Distance Learning Plan

In order to maintain a continuous learning plan, USD 225 will be shifting to a digital instructional system. This will require access to the internet. In the event that internet access is not available to the student, we ask that you try to get service through a phone hotspot or contact a service provider to see about temporary service. If you are unable to do so due to finances, contact Mr. Bollinger for assistance.

6th-12th grade students will begin on Monday, March 23rd with the digital plan.

Elementary students will pick up class materials, iPads, headphones and workbooks at the lunch distribution on Monday, March 23rd at 10:30-12:00 and begin coursework on Tuesday.

6th-12th Grade System of Delivery

All 6-12 students will report to school based on the provided schedule. Students will primarily access Google Classroom, Zoom for live interactions, and email for correspondence. Links will be provided through the students’ school email. At any time there is a technology problem or the teacher is unavailable, the student will shift to independent work until the next class opportunity.

Secondary teachers will communicate through Google Classroom by posting assignments, links, documents or other related material. They may also prepare short videos of instruction. They will also set up Zoom meetings, which are meetings that they can hold with students or an entire class live. Summit students will have the ability to take a content assessment while being monitored through Zoom. The GoGuardian software will also still be active and teachers will be able to monitor websites and activities through the Chromebooks.

Please see the separate document for the secondary class schedule.

5th-12th grade band students can pick up their instrument by using the drive through parking on the side of the dome between 10:30-12:00 on Monday. Stay parked and someone will assist you.

Elementary System of Delivery

Elementary teachers will communicate with parents and students through Class Dojo and will also hold a daily Zoom meeting with their students utilizing their iPad to receive direct instruction in reading and math. Zoom meeting IDs will be communicated to parents via Class Dojo and/or e-mail. Parents will need to provide their grade school teacher an email to use for communication and will need to plan for supporting their child in accessing the daily Zoom meeting. In addition, students will complete a daily task list including digital and non-digital activities. The amount of time spent on the digital resources will be monitored by teachers. Students should be able to access and complete these activities with little parent support. School iPads will be released for home use. GoGuardian does not extend to the iPads, so parents will need a plan to monitor appropriate usage.

Mrs. Powell will be sharing resources for parents to use at home for preschool students.
