USD #225 Board of Education Special Meeting
April 18, 2022, 6:00 P.M.
Call to order: T.J. Milford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Milford led a prayer.
Members present: TJ Milford, Cathy Heinz, Fred Boyd, & Jeff Zortman were present. Others present were Cherie Nicholson, Superintendent, Erica Littlewood, Board Clerk, and Corri McDowell, Principal.
Members not present: Kim Copenhaver and Dana Bartezko
Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Kim McLachlan and Debbie Wise
Approve Consent Agenda: Zortman moved, seconded by Copenhaver to approve the Consent Agenda.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Milford moved, seconded by Boyd to go into executive session for 25 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel under KOMA, board, McDowell, and Nicholson. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 4-0. 6:01 p.m.
Copenhaver arrived at 6:02 p.m.
Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to go back into executive session for 3 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 6:26 p.m.
PERSONNEL
District Insurance Policy –
Zortman moved, seconded by Copenhaver to approve the insurance package for BOE coverage for returning certified teachers in the amount of $550. Motion carried 5-0.
Heinz moved, seconded by Milford to approve the insurance package for BOE coverage for returning classified staff in the amount of $650. Motion carried 5-0.
Resignation – Boyd moved, seconded by Copenhaver to accept the resignation of Jennifer Faurot effective June 30, 2022. Motion carried 5-0.
Grade School Teacher – Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to accept the motion to hire Danny Chamberlain as Elementary Teacher/PE Instructor for Fowler Grade School beginning the 2022-23 SY. Motion carried 5-0.
Paraprofessional/Music Sub – Zortman moved, seconded by Heinz to accept the motion to hire Rebecca Marcum as a paraprofessional/music sub for the 2022-23 school year with the condition of the continual movement of coursework and completion toward a license. Motion carried 5-0.
Elementary Admin Contract – Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to approve Corrine McDowell as an elementary school administrator for the 2022-23 school year, with the following terms:
- A contract for one year – discussed each year prior to a scheduled board meeting in May of each school year.
- Annual decision of a contract will be made based on the fiscal availability of funding.
- Retain current salary for the 22-23 school year
- Add two days of sick leave (not to exceed 10) in lieu of full family paid insurance beginning 22-23 school year as the admin of Fowler Elementary.
Motion carried 5-0.
Adjournment – Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to adjourn meeting. Motion carried 5-0 6:34 p.m.
