April 10, 2017 Board of Education meeting minutes

Regular Board Of Education Meeting

High School Library, Monday, April 10, 2017 7 p.m.

 

 

Call to order:  Tim Milford, President, called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.  Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Milford led in prayer.

 

Members present:  Tim Milford, Jamie Boese and Barb Whitney, Dave Snook, Richie Dewell and Mark Bergkamp were present. Others present were Corrie McDowell, Principal, Jeff Bollinger, Superintendent, Paula Kay Watson, Board Clerk.

 

Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Milford thanked the community members for coming to the meeting.

 

Approve Consent Agenda: Snook moved, seconded by Bergkamp to approve the minutes and as presented. Boese moved and Lundeen seconded to approve the bills as presented.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Reports: 

            Principal:  Mrs. McDowell gave her report

            Economic Development, Jamie Boese, representative, said she missed last meeting and the next meeting was tomorrow.

            Special Education, Tim Milford, representative, gave his report

            A+ Network, Steve Lundeen, representative, gave his report

            Superintendent: Mr. Bollinger gave his report

           

DISCUSSION

 

Dennis McDowell:  Mr. McDowell addressed the Board on behalf of the Fowler Friends Church Men’s group. They are looking for jobs like cleaning, painting, etc. to help out. Also, he has heard a lot of great things about the school. He is praying for the Board.

 

Barry Jones:  Mr. Jones read a letter from a group of concerned parents and community members about the school.

ACTION

 

VOIP System:  Mr. Bollinger said they are updating their system and would like to wait until next month to see what the updates are.

 

Bus Bid:  Whitney moved and Dewell seconded to accept the bid from Fowler Friends Church to purchase the bus for $1600. Motion carried 7-0.

 

Possible Junior High Cross Country:  Consensus of the Board for Mr. Bollinger to look into Junior High Cross Country for next year. 16 kids said they were interested in it. He will meet with Mr. Granados.

 

7:35 Copenhaver returned to the meeting.

 

Possible Softball/Baseball Co-op:  Boese moved and Bergkamp seconded to allow Mr. Bollinger to move forward in looking into a Softball/Baseball Co-op for next year. Motion carried 7-0.

 

 

Adoption Agreement & Consultant Service Contract:  A motion was made by Lundeen and seconded by Snook to adopt the Adoption Agreement and Consultant Service Contract with KASB Legal Assistance Fund. Motion carried 7-0.

 

PERSONNEL

 

Approvals/Acceptances: Boese moved to accept the resignations of Mikel Glidden and Rainna Bollinger and hire Emily Dizmang as an elementary teacher and Taylor Bollinger as Assistant Junior High Track Coach. Bergkamp seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

Executive Session:  Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 30 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0.  7:58 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 20 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0.  8:28 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0.  8:48 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0.  7:53 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 15 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:15 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:20 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:25 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:30 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:35 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:40 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes with the Board only. Motion carried 7-0.  9:45 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 5 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0.  9:50 p.m.

            Snook moved and seconded by Bergkamp to go into executive session for 15 minutes and include the Administration. Motion carried 7-0. 10:10 p.m.

 

Lundeen addressed the audience about getting unity back into the school to include the Board, the teachers and staff. 

 

Adjournment:  A motion was made by Lundeen, seconded by Bergkamp to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 7-0.  Time:  10:24 p.m.
