USD #225 Board of Education Special Meeting

August 2, 2021, 7:00 P.M.  

Call to order:  T.J. Milford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Pledge of Allegiance was recited and McDowell led a prayer.

Members present: Jared Weber, Kim Copenhaver, Tom Huelskamp, Fred Boyd, Ed Rarden, and T.J. Milford were present. Others present were Cherie Nicholson, Superintendent, Corri McDowell, Principal, and Erica Littlewood, Board Clerk.

Cathy Heinz was not present.

DISCUSSION

USD 225 BOE Office Nominations –

Special Education: Milford nominated Kimberly Copenhaver, seconded by Rarden. Motion carried 6-0.

Economic Development: Boyd nominated T.J. Milford, seconded by Rarden. Motion carried 6-0.

Vice President: Rarden nominated Jared Weber, seconded by Copenhaver. Motion carried 6-0.

President: Boyd nominated T.J Milford, seconded by Huelskamp. Motion carried 6-0.

IT Rate Increase - Weber moved, seconded by Copenhaver to accept the proposed rate increase for IT services provided by Tom Barnes to $250.00/per day. Motion carried 6-0.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Milford moved, seconded by Huelskamp to go into executive session for 35 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel under KOMA, board and superintendent. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 6-0. 7:05 p.m.

PERSONNEL

Classified Employment Agreements – Copenhaver moved, seconded by Weber to approve the following classified employment agreements as presented:

• Tammy Smith – Maintenance/Custodial (Sub transportation)
• Erica Littlewood – Business Manager/Board Clerk
• Stephanie Baez – Paraprofessional ITV Facilitator
• Cassie Goff – School Secretary/Office Assistant
• Lisa Rosebeary – Food Service & Summer Food Service
• Yolanda Perez – Food Service Assistant
• Wayne Behring – Maintenance/Custodial/Transportation
• Bryan Branstine – Transportation/Bus & Vehicle Maintenance/Janitorial/Grounds

Substitute Drivers: Tammy Smith, Stephanie Baez, Erica Littlewood, and Dennis McDowell

Certified Employment Contracts – Contracts are ready and will be signed by teachers during in-service. Discussion only, no motion made.

Long-Term Substitute – Weber moved, seconded by Huelskamp to approve hiring a long-term sub for JH ELA. Motion carried 6-0.

Maintenance Position – Huelskamp moved, seconded by Boyd to give Mrs. Nicholson permission to advertise for a maintenance position. Motion carried 6-0.

 Adjournment – Milford moved, seconded by Copenhaver to adjourn meeting. Motion carried 6-0 7:46 p.m.
