May 08, 2023, Board of Education Meeting Minutes

Members Present: TJ Milford, Fred Boyd, Cathy Heinz, and Jeff Zortman.

Also present were Jamie Wetig, Superintendent, Erica Littlewood, Board Clerk, and Corri McDowell, Pricipal

Not present: Dana Bartezko

 

Guests: Kim McLachlan, Debbie Wise, and Danny Chamberlain  

 

Opening Prayer – Zortman lead in prayer.

 

Budget Hearing                                                                                                                                  

 

ROUTINE ITEMS

  1. Call to Order – Milford called the meeting to order 7:00 p.m.
  2. Pledge of Allegiance – Recited
  3. Adoption of Agenda (Action) Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to adopt the Budget Hearing agenda as presented, Motion carried 4-0.

Dana Bartezko joined the meeting via telephone at 7:04 p.m.

  1. Approval of the Amended 2022-2023 Budget

Zortman moved, seconded by Heinz to approve the Amended 2022-2023 Budget as presented.

Motion carried 5-0.

  1. ADJOURNMENT

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. 7:06 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to approve the non-staff lease agreement as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

 

  1. EXECUTIVE SESSION (Personnel Matters)

Motion: Mr. President, I move we go into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters of non-elected personnel in order to protect the privacy interest of the individual(s) to be discussed, pursuant to non-elected personnel exception under Kansas Open Meetings Act.

 

Milford moved, seconded by Zortman to go into executive session, board and Wetig, for 15 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 8:16 p.m.

Batezko left the meeting at 8:21 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to go into executive session, board, Littlewood, and McDowell, for 10 minutes. Motion carried 4-0. 8:30 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to go back into executive session for 5 minutes. Motion carried 4-0. 8:42 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Boyd to accept the resignation of Jamie Wetig effective June 30, 2023. Motion carried 4-0.

Heinz moved, seconded by Zortman to accept the Memorandum of Understanding with Jamie Wetig as Superintendent on Record.  Motion carried 4-0.

Boyd moved, seconded by Milford to accept Jamie Wetig as Superintendent on Record and administrative mentor for USD 225. Motion carried 4-0.

 

  1. ADJOURNMENT

Boyd moved, seconded by Heinz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 4-0. 8:51 p.m.
