USD #225 Board of Education Meeting

June 9, 2022, 6:30 P.M.  


 

Call to order:  T.J. Milford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.  Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Milford led a prayer. 

Members present: TJ Milford, Cathy Heinz, Fred Boyd, Dana Bartezko & Jeff Zortman were present. Others present were Cherie Nicholson, Superintendent, Erica Littlewood, Board Clerk, and Corri McDowell, Principal. 

Kim Copenhaver was not present.

Recognition of Visitors/Communication: Jamie Wetig, Kim McLachlan and Debbie Wise

Approve Consent Agenda: Boyd moved, seconded by Zortman to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carried 5-0.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to go into executive session for 20 minutes to discuss data relating to financial affairs under KOMA, board, Nicholson, and Jamie Wetig. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the item(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 5-0. 6:49 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Boyd to go back into executive session for 5 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 7:09 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to go into executive session for 5 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel (Negotiated Agreement) under KOMA, board, Wetig, and Nicholson. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 5-0. 7:15 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Boyd to go back into executive session for 10 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 7:21 p.m.

Zortman moved, seconded by Milford to go back into executive session for 5 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 7:32 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Zortman to go into executive session for 15 minutes to discuss non-elected personnel under KOMA, board only. This session is required to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed. Motion carried 5-0. 7:38 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to go back into executive session for 10 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 7:54 p.m.

Wetig joined the executive session at 8:03 p.m.

Milford moved, seconded by Zortman to go back into executive session for 10 minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 8:05 p.m.

DISCUSSION

Meade County Neighborhood Revitalization Contract – Boyd moved, seconded by Heinz to approve the Meade County Neighborhood Revitalization Contract as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

Grade School Handbook – Milford moved, seconded by Bartezko to approve the 2022-2023 Grade School Student Handbook as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

Enrollment Fees – Discussion only. Item will be discussed again in the future. No motion made.

Recess: 8:50 p.m.

Returned to regular session at 8:54 p.m.

School Meal Prices – Zortman moved, seconded by Heinz to approve a $0.10 increase meal prices for the 2022-23 school year. Motion carried 5-0.

Wellness Policy – Heinz moved, seconded by Boyd to approve the 2022-2023 Wellness Policy as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

District Re-Entry Plan – Milford moved, seconded by Heinz to approve the 2022-2023 District Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services. Motion carried 5-0.

Bank Signature Cards – Zortman moved, seconded by Boyd to remove Cherie Nicholson, and add Jamie Wetig to the bank signature cards.  Motion carried 5-0

 

 

PERSONNEL 

Superintendent Contract – Zortman moved, seconded by Heinz to approve the superintendent contract, as presented, for one year (2022-2023 School Year). Motion carried 5-0.

Adjournment – Bartezko moved, seconded by Boyd to adjourn meeting. Motion carried 5-0 9:12 p.m.
